What is Google Vids?
Google Vids is Google's AI-powered video creation tool, built directly into Google Workspace. It lets you create presentation-style videos from text prompts, Google Slides, or Docs - without any video editing experience required. Describe what you want, and Google Vids generates a script, finds relevant stock footage from Google's library, suggests background music, and assembles a polished video. You can record yourself presenting over the AI-generated scenes, add narration, or use AI-generated voiceover. The finished video lives in Google Drive like any other Workspace file, shareable with the usual Google controls. Google Vids 2.0 (launched April 2026) added a significantly improved AI scene generation engine, better lip-sync for recorded narration, and the ability to incorporate footage from Google Meet recordings directly into new videos. It's best suited for business communication, training content, and internal presentations where production polish is useful but a Hollywood production budget isn't available.
